Reed Direct Primary Care

It's Primary Care the way it should be - We have time for you!

What is Direct Primary Care?

Will it work for me?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership model of working with your Primary Care Physician. In recent years the doctor-patient relationship has changed, and not for the better. When everything healthcare is governed by insurance, it is no longer the physician or even the patient who makes primary decisions for their care.

In a DPC practice your physician does not need coding, billing and prior authorization departments. Their goal is not to navigate this complex system. Rather, they are freed up to spend their time caring for you

DPC changes the landscape, both for patients and physicians.

Simply put, Dr. Reed is there for you when you need him. Membership fees pay for all visits and services you can receive in your primary office, apart from at-cost price of supplies for certain procedures. This usually covers 85-90% or more of your healthcare needs. After-hours care and same-day/next-day visits for acute issues are included as well.

As your physician, Dr. Reed receives direct payment for his services through your membership fee. This eliminates the need for an army of staff to deal with insurance regulations. Without these added costs, membership numbers can stay low. This means that Dr. Reed will never be too busy to care for you.

Benefits of Membership

  • Access: Dr. Reed keeps same-day/next-day appointments and after-hours access. This means members can address issues before they become an emergency.
  • Convenience: Without the need for a “visit” to bill insurance, Dr. Reed can address your questions and needs in many ways.  Contact him by phone, text, email, virtually or be seen in-person.
  • Time: Dr. Reed has time to fit you in and will take the time to meet your healthcare needs. Longer appointments are standard.
  • Unlimited: There are no limits on number of visits or communications with Dr. Reed, and never any extra fees to be seen and evaluated.
  • Transparent pricing: You will know your costs up front and will never receive a surprise bill.
  • Procedures: Any procedure performed in-office is included in your membership, but we do charge at-cost price of medicine and supplies. Medication and supplies for a joint injection – $15. Need stitches? – $12.
  • Savings: Lab and imaging costs are not included in your membership. However, Dr. Reed can help you to get the lowest price when these services are necessary.

Dr. Nathan D. Reed, D.O.

Training:

A native-born Oregonian, Dr. Reed is a 1999 graduate of Crater High School. He also attended Oregon State University, receiving dual degrees in Microbiology and General Science, with a Chemistry Minor. While at Oregon State he met his wife, Tiffany, and they began their family with a daughter who was born shortly before he was accepted to medical school.

Dr. Reed attended his four years of medical school at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri and then completed three additional years of Family Medicine Residency in Quincy, Illinois. During the course of this training, their family grew and he and Tiffany now have five children. After residency, he moved back to Oregon to begin his medical practice.

At Home:

Out of the office you will usually find Dr. Reed at home. In his free time he enjoys working with his hands, with skills he learned working with his Dad. He always has projects around the property and enjoys being busy. He loves to ski, beginning at Mt. Ashland when he was just three years old. These days he enjoys racing his kids down that same mountain.

Reading the bible or a good book, working in the yard, and tinkering in his shop bring him joy. He loves his family and he loves the Lord.

In the office:

As a family medicine physician, Dr. Reed enjoys building relationships with his patients. He also loves to teach and to care for people. His goal in pursuing medicine as a career is for patients to be able to understand the health challenges they face. With this understanding, they are better supported and equipped to feel and do their best.

It takes time to build a relationship with your physician.  Dr. Reed spends that time with each patient.  He wants to understand their goals and address each of their needs – he will happily go through your list of concerns. At Reed Direct Primary Care, we have time for you, when you need it.

Serving Southern Oregon and the Rogue Valley (Medford, Central Point, Jacksonville, White City, Eagle Point, Ashland, Talent and surrounding areas).
